John has 35 plus years working in the upstream oil and gas industry. John started out in the mid seventies as a roughneck, working his way up in the drilling/completions industry to Rig Manager, Operations Management and then becoming a partner in a service rig company.
John has spent the last 15 years in a leadership role as a health and safety professional. John has been developing, growing, and overseeing health and safety management systems as well as coaching, mentoring and building high performing teams.
John’s aspirations lead him in the early years to the University of Alberta’s OH&S program. He then furthered his education by attending Queens’s University School of business in the Executive Management Program.
Under John’s leadership, he has lead companies to achieve several safety leadership awards as well as the Province of Alberta’s Best Employer’s Award.
John has been an active participant in industry regulatory bodies including the CAODC Recommended Practices Committee, the Industry Fatigue Management Steering Committee, CAODC safety and technical committees. John chaired and developed CAODC Directive # 33 for industry.
