Driller

As a driller, you will be organizing and directing the rig crew as you all work together to complete a job, whether that is with one other person or the whole crew.The driller will lead by example by safely carrying out job procedures together with the crew, giving leadership and direction to all involved. Responsibilities include providing direction and guidance to the crew members in the course of their tasks, while also being the primary operator of various equipment. The driller is also responsible for ensuring regular scheduled maintenance of the rig, training new crew members, and teaching crew members how to work safely. Overall, the driller plays a critical role in leading the rig crew and ensuring the job is completed safely and efficiently.

 

The ideal person for this position is someone with experience in rig drilling and who has strong leadership and communication skills. They should have a deep understanding of safe working procedures and be able to effectively train and teach crew members. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules and incident reports. They should also be able to provide clear and concise direction to crew members. Overall, the Driller should be a strong leader who can work effectively with a team to complete a job on time.

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • The Driller will be the primary operator of the brake handle, clutch, draw works, and winch.

  • Ensures the regular scheduled maintenance of the rig.

  • Organizes the crew for activities and assigns jobs to the different crew members.

  • Is responsible to transport crew to and from the job site.

  • Maintains good housekeeping on and around the rig and equipment.

  • Trains new crew members and organizes crew training drills.

  • Teaches the crew members how to work safely following safe working procedures, as set forth in the Health and Safety manual and Safe Work Procedures manual.

  • Reports any observed problems pertaining to equipment, working practices, or personnel to the Rig Manager.

  • Reports any Near Miss incidents to the Rig Manager immediately.

 

Additional Job Details:

  • Education or Training Required: 

    • BOP ticket 

    • Commercial driver’s licence (class 1 or 3) would be preferred

  • Years of Experience: 2+ years of experience

  • Location of Position: West Texas 

  • Working Conditions:

    • Travel Requirements: must have a valid passport with the ability to obtain a work visa. Victory Well Servicing will assist with and pay for the visa application. Victory Well Servicing will cover flights to and from the work site for the on-shift days.   

    • Housing: accommodations and meals while on shift are paid for.

      • Subsistence pay is provided for local residents (days worked). 

    • Shift Schedule: 20 days on and 10 days off, 12 hours per day 

    • Company will cover the cost to import vehicles out of the country that can be used on the work site.

    • PPE is provided
